Battery Disposal
Batteries are easy to recycle but don’t belong in your recycling or waste containers, where they can start fires. You can recycle rechargeable batteries at any Home Depot, Lowes, Batteries+Bulbs, and Ace Hardware stores, among others. Find a location near you at call2recycle.org or batteriesplus.com.
Ask your community about single-use battery recycling options. If none are available, tape over the battery’s contacts before placing in your household trash, never your recycling container.
Prefer to recycle household batteries from home? Our Think Green From Home Dry Cell Battery Recycling Kit is an easy, affordable mail-in solution for recycling 9-volt and smaller alkaline, carbon-zinc NiCad and NiMH batteries. Learn more at wm.com/thinkgreen/what-can-i-recycle.jsp.
